Enerpro commits to Aberdeen with £2 Million Investment

Enerpro, an offshore project management and construction specialist, has reaffirmed its commitment to Aberdeen with a significant investment. The company has relocated its headquarters to the city and invested £2 million in new premises in Aberdeen’s west end. This move also includes the creation of over 20 new positions, including two management roles. Managing Director, Mr Wade, explains the strategy behind the company’s investment: “Over the last 24 months Enerpro has tripled its turnover – much of which can be attributed to our activity in the North Sea. In itself, that illustrates the significant potential for our company within the UKCS as we work with our clients to address the energy trilemma, which of course includes supporting their decarbonisation strategies.” The new investment demonstrates Enerpro’s confidence in the future of the North Sea oil and gas industry, particularly with a focus on drilling rig upgrades for both mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs) and fixed offshore platforms. Mr Wade concludes: “The move to our new HQ in Aberdeen reflects our desire to invest in what we very clearly see as the on-going energy capital of Europe. The majority of our North Sea clients are here, the skills are here, and at…

European Project Paves Way for AI-powered 6G Networks

The DAEMON project, a European research initiative led by Spain’s IMDEA Networks Institute, has successfully concluded, marking a significant step towards the development of future-proof 6G networks. Launched in January 2021, the project focused on integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into mobile network architecture, paving the way for faster, more ubiquitous mobile communication infrastructure with the potential to revolutionise everyday life. DAEMON’s core aim was to explore the practical application of AI in managing future generations of mobile networks (beyond 5G and 6G). The project achieved notable success, with its AI-driven architecture model being adopted by key standardisation bodies like the 5G Public Private Partnership (5G PPP) and the 6G Industry Alliance (6G IA). This paves the way for further integration into mainstream mobile network standards like those developed by 3GPP. “The results have been a success since the AI-native architectural model proposed by DAEMON has been adopted by the 5G PPP and 6G IA Architecture Working Groups, from where it has the potential to be further pushed into main standardization bodies like 3GPP”, said Marco Fiore, IMDEA Networks Research Professor and the DAEMON Project Coordinator. “Also, the project has generated two pilots that are now deployed in the production network…
TCO starts up WPMP operations At Tengiz

The Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP) at the Tengiz oil field has begun operations, marking a significant step forward for Tengizchevroil (TCO). However, challenges remain as TCO pushes towards full project completion. The key hurdle lies in managing the existing oil production while implementing the WPMP. This involves lowering pressure at wellheads and subsequently boosting it to maintain capacity at existing processing plants, a complex process requiring ongoing adjustments. While the WPMP startup is a milestone, the complete expansion relies on the successful execution of the Future Growth Project (FGP). This final stage, targeted for completion in mid-2025, will determine the ultimate production increase of 12 million tons per annum. TCO acknowledges the crucial role of partnerships and stakeholder engagement. Their success hinges on continued support from the Kazakh government, existing partners, contractors, local communities, and their skilled workforce. A significant achievement is the upskilling of 4,000 Kazakhstani employees through specialized training for the PBF project. This focus on local workforce development highlights TCO’s commitment to the region. TCO’s focus remains on collaborating with partners and the Kazakh government to ensure the safe and successful completion of the entire FGP-WPMP project. Despite the WPMP startup, there’s still work to be…
