Masimo (NASDAQ: MASI), a leading medical technology company, announced that Saint-Denis Hospital Center in France has adopted the Masimo SafetyNet® cloud-based telemonitoring platform to facilitate earlier discharge of premature newborns from the hospital.
The pilot project, launched in February, allows vulnerable neonates to return home safely while remaining under the close supervision of the hospital. Masimo SafetyNet offers a streamlined approach to remote patient management, providing wireless continuous monitoring, customizable CarePrograms™, and a secure in-hospital clinical portal.
Families of discharged patients receive an easy-to-use pulse oximetry sensor and a smartphone application. The sensor, worn on the foot of the neonatal patient, sends health data to the app, allowing parents to monitor their baby’s condition and communicate with caregivers. Hospital staff can also receive real-time data and notifications, enabling them to prioritize patients who may need care escalation.
Saint-Denis Hospital Center has a long history of providing home-based care, including home visits for premature newborns. The integration of Masimo SafetyNet has expanded their approach to remote neonatal monitoring, offering a more comprehensive and innovative solution.

The mobile neonatology unit benefits both caregivers and families. Masimo SafetyNet may enable earlier discharge, allowing premature babies to return home sooner. This can reduce stress for families and provide additional support during the critical early weeks of life.
The success of this program could lead to the deployment of Masimo SafetyNet in other care areas, such as pediatric care and home patient management of various conditions.
